Orchid Software was formed in 1994 to develop a management system for the ISO 9000 quality standard. Following the release and ongoing evolution of two highly acclaimed packages (CQM and Phoenix), a focus change was decided upon. Our focus change saw us move to become an e-business consultancy, developing strategies and applications that really put the web to work for our clients.
In 1996, we developed our first web-based application, the IDM Intranet Document Manager, for Nissan Motor Company. The success of this project gave us a new perspective on the future potential of e-business applications, and with this in mind we started to develop an information management application that would allow us to realise our vision.
In 1999, we approached Vickers Defence Systems (now a part of BAE Systems) with a prototype for a corporate Intranet infrastructure that met and exceeded expectations for both companies. As a result of this, Orchidnet was born, quickly becoming the focal point of all future developments.

The new millennium saw the further development of Orchidnet, creating a powerful, highly functional and completely secure solution that today includes more than 75 business-ready applications. As a result, our client base has expanded to include names such as Northern Rock, Barclays and the Department for Trade and Industry among others.
