Codeworks is the North-East's Centre for Digital Excellence, working to promote digital media and enterprise throughout the region. Codeworks was established in January 2004 to develop sustainable business and employment in the North East area, providing a focus for the region's academic, business and policy-based interests to drive the regional economy forward.
In late 2003, as part of an ongoing, mutually beneficial working relationship, Orchid Software entered into discussions with Codeworks with a view to developing and hosting a range of Codeworks websites powered by Orchidnet’s Intranet technology. This “Webtranet” functionality was designed to provide Codeworks with a user-friendly way for non-technical staff to build and maintain a range of Internet sites using Orchidnet’s proven user-friendly framework, removing the need for programming knowledge.
Since implementation the installation has proved to be a great success, with new developments and updates being consistently added and built upon. Alongside their own site, Codeworks host a range of other websites using Orchidnet, including Codeworks Connect, Think and a Drink and Game Horizon, along with other one-off sites as required.
The installation went live in June 2004. |
