Since 1990, Eaga Group has worked towards leading government-funded efforts to improve the living conditions of vulnerable people living in cold, damp and energy inefficient homes across England. The company’s scope of operations encompasses Canada, India and the Republic of Ireland, with head offices in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK.
Such an important remit and wide scope of operations make communication and collaboration between employees of the utmost importance; after deciding on the need for an intranet to help manage their business, Eaga needed to find a system that would make it easy for over 1,500 simultaneous users - spread over a number of distinct geographical locations - to work together at the same time, on the same projects if necessary.
Through contacting Orchid Software, Eaga were able to investigate exactly how intranet implementation could provide the business tools to meet their needs; though the decision to proceed with implementation took a short while, discussion and demonstration between both parties led to the mutual conclusion that Orchidnet PRO was indeed the intranet to take Eaga’s operations forward.
Implementation started straight away, and content population was a significant factor in addition to 1,600 instances of user population. The intranet went live in April 2007, and has been a great success. Both parties continue to work closely together in further adapting the intranet to ensure that Orchidnet provides the best fit for Eaga’s changing needs. |
