Introduction Greggs plc is the UK's leading retailer specialising in sandwiches, savouries and other bakery products, with a particular focus on takeaway food and catering. Greggs have over 1500 retail outlets across the UK and employ over 15500 people. The company trades under the Greggs and Bakers Oven brands and had a turnover of £380 million pounds and produced a profit of £39 million in 2001.
The Solution Orchid Software will develop a comprehensive knowledge management intranet/extranet using Orchidnet that will enable Greggs to provide information to any of its 15,500 employees. The solution will encompass several applications including Help Desk, Asset Manager, Form Manager, AutoPDF, and Whereabouts.
The Greggs intranet allows the company’s employees, partners, and customers to capture, shape and share knowledge using nothing more than a Web browser. During the discussion process, it was clear that Orchidnet would provide Greggs with the functionality and flexibility that they required from their new intranet.
Following installation and content population, the Greggs intranet went live in early 2002 and has been a great success within the company ever since. |
