Leicestershire Constabulary provides policing services to almost one million people across the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland areas, with an area of jurisdiction covering over 2,500 square kilometres governed by 15 policing units.
Providing a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week policing services over such a wide geographical area means that organisational management is of the utmost importance to ensure the smooth running of the Constabulary. Managing organisational risk is part of any organisation's management remit, and Leicestershire constabulary are no different in that respect; the scale of their operations means that the right tools are required to provide a proven, effective and reliable risk management service across the board.
Orchid Software's Orchidnet-based Risk Register software has a proven track record in managing organisational risk within police forces and constabularies in the UK: the application was developed in conjunction with Sussex Police in 2004, and has been managing their organisational risk since 2005 - garnering a positive review in the trade periodical Strategic Risk in the process - while Norfolk Constabulary adopted the application in January 2007 with immediate and ongoing success.
Leicestershire Constabulary contacted Orchid Software in January 2007 with a view to implementing an organisational risk management system. Orchidnet's proven track record in similar settings made it easy for Leicestershire Constabulary representatives to see how the software would accommodate their organisational requirements during a period of discussion and demonstration.
Leicestershire Constabulary opted for Orchidnet's Risk Register software in mid-2007, with implementation and installation carried out in meticulous fashion prior to the system's launch in early 2008. |
