Based in County Durham, PWS is one of the leading UK distributors of kitchen components, with a product range comprising over 6000 ex-stock lines with an emphasis on good design, quality and innovation. For over 30 years they have built a solid reputation for dependable service and continuous development, and are currently looking to expand their international operations.
PWS needed an online infrastructure that would allow them to share information within their organization. Documentation needed to be organized and stored in a central location, and made available at a moment’s notice to the appropriate departments and staff members. As a result, an Intranet was identified as the ideal solution to address their needs, and following a short period of consultation Orchidnet was chosen to provide PWS with a solution tailored to meet their requirements.
The PWS installation provides them with solid Intranet functionality, with a focus on data storage, availability of information and inter-departmental interaction. The increase in the availability of information has helped PWS to become more responsive as an organisation, and streamlined internal business practice by cutting administration time and costs. Communication will also be improved, with Microsoft Exchange integration synchronising email access with the Intranet, and Active Directory synchronization will provide a single point of user access for all online business.
Installation took place on the 14th of September 2004, and the intranet went live in early 2005. |
