After the merger in 1968 of East and West Sussex County Forces with a number of County Borough Forces to form Sussex Constabulary1974 saw the Constabulary renamed as Sussex Police. The six geographical divisions of Sussex Police cover sixteen districts, and the force is currently moving towards a focus on local policing, to the approval of the County’s residents.
Sussex Police required an online Risk Register designed to record all operational and strategic risks across their organization. A risk management infrastructure is a vital part of any forward-thinking organization, especially those within the public sector, and so for Sussex Police the requirements were there from day one.
Following a short period of consultation, Orchid Software provided Sussex Police with an online Risk Register based on Orchidnet Intranet functionality. The application allows new risks to be recorded online, alongside full details that include time, location, affected areas and predicted impact. Staff responsibility is assigned and/or delegate online, allowing individuals to be assigned the responsibility for dealing with specific risks relevant to their area of expertise. User-friendly risk entry wizards were incorporated to help non-technical staff feel at home with the application. Revision and reference facilities were added to ease any administrative burden, helping to create a comprehensive risk management infrastructure that would meet all of Sussex Police’s requirements.
The solution was installed on the 11th of February 2005, and went live in June the same year. |
